How long does it take to apply for Disabled students Allowance?

The DSA is a personalised bid for government funding that involves a number of different bodies and processes. There is also a high demand for assessment bookings. We therefore advise students to start arranging their DSA at the FIRST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY.  This is particularly important if it is necessary to arrange a diagnostic test for dyslexia or medical evidence.

It would be advisable to plan for the process to take up to four months: add additional time if evidence needs to be arranged. It may be possible for interim support to be put in place from when medical evidence is available to the point where support is formally put in place. Arrangements are made on a case by case basis via the disability office.
