I've had an unexpected expense that I can't cover from my budget. Is there any help available?

Home and EU students in financial difficulty can apply to the Swansea University Opportunity Award. There is no guarantee of an award for any student but if an award is granted, it will not need to be paid back. For eligibility criteria and further details on the Swansea University Opportunity Award, please contact Money@CampusLife. Applications to the Swansea University Opportunity Award can be completed online here: https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/StudentHardship/  To sign in, please use your student number and usual university password. Be sure to have all of the required information ready as you will not be able to submit your application if you are missing information.

If you would prefer to apply on paper, please contact the office for a paper application form. Please be aware that paper application forms can take up to 20 working days to be assessed as opposed to 15 working days for online applications.

The Swansea University Opportuntiy Award is a limited fund and all awards are issued as a grant that does not need to be paid back.  In order for awards to be issued fairly and to those in need, please be aware that you will be required to supply all the evidence requested based on your circumstances.

It can take up to 15 working days to assess your application, but a decision may take longer if not all evidence has been provided.  If we need further information, we will contact you within the 15 working days.  You may receive more than one request for further information if not all evidence has been provided.

You are encouraged to attend a drop in session to discuss your situation with an advisor. Our up to date drop in times can be found online: https://www.swansea.ac.uk/money-campuslife/
